After last years astounding 57 Octaves Below EP, Brighton’s Air Formation are back with their third album. Recorded over the Summer with producer Pat Collier, mastered by Shimmydisc/Bongwater maestro Kramer Daylight Storms is their most accomplished work to date. Drawing from the likes of eighties shoegazers My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, as well as lesser known noise-dreamers like the fabulously mysterious Flying Saucer Attack, Air Formation sit comfortably alongside the current crop, Sigur Ros, Long- View, Mew et al while at the same time following a path of their very own making. Think Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, the sound of jet engines. Air Formation can go from breathy escapism to futuristic terrorcaust in a matter of minutes whilst still encapsulating the listener. Live shows are rare but stunning, recent supports have included Mark Gardner, Ulrich Schnauss and Rachel Goswell. The band will be back to delight in the Spring.
Available via Darla mail order only until the official street date 5/8/2007. Alsace Lorraine is the Uber Dream Pop of Paul Francke and friends. On Dark One Alsace Lorraine sound even more romantic, thoughtful, sensuous, and smart than ever; adding a bit of folky Americana and narcotic Dub to their sound. Our favorite vocalist on Earth, Argentinean Singer/Artist Isol (Entre Rios) joined Alsace Lorraine to sing on six of the album’s 13 tracks, plus on both remixes of course. Isol sings here in English for the very first time! Isol also helped Paul brainstorm the construction of the lyrics and music. Caitlin Brice, who sang on the first Alsace Lorraine record, sings backing vocals here on one track. Dark One features fantastic remixes by Ian Catt (St. Etienne) and Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins). The result of Paul & Isol’s work together is a unique blending of Astrud Gilberto, St. Etienne, Eurythmics, Pale Saints, Magnetic Fields, Lee Scratch Perry, a Latinesque Hope Sandoval, and perhaps at times a whisper of Nancy & Lee. Work on the sophomore album Dark One began at Paul’s home studio on the south side of Chicago and was completed in Campbeltown, Kintyre, Scotland. Between those points, Paul worked on the record in a divinity school dormitory in Alexandria, VA. Isol's exotic, sensual vocals were recorded in her bedroom studio in Buenos Aires. Paul and Isol will definitely make more beautiful music together. There are plans for Ian Catt to produce the next record for Darla, and to include work by Hewson Chen (Vitesse, the New Lines), who played on the first album. Track list: 1. As We Fight, 2. Dulce et Decorum, 3. Call for Papers, 4. The Tall Grass, 5. Lost Province, 6. One Day, Far Off, If the World Forgot, 7. The Senile Rings, 8. Claire, 9. Stormy Sky (Skate or Die), 10. Burden Down, 11. Go From My Window (Flooded Interstate), 12. No Stars, 13. Call for Papers (Ian Catt mix), 14. The Gravel Dew, 15. The Tall Grass (Robin Guthrie mix). "I love this album! See, this is exactly the kind of stuff I want to listen to when spring starts coming around." --MANUAL “Much of the most moving, long-lasting music succeeds at capturing a certain feeling of transcendence . . . the sense of newness found when hovering between sleep and awakeness, when seeing a breathtaking sunset or while kissing someone for the first time. If all too many musicians seek this sort of dreamlike state of freedom through new-age ambient swirls or retro-hippie jamming, Alsace Lorraine manage to grasp it within the confines of the three-minute pop song. It's quite a feat, and their debut album Through Small Windows is filled with gorgeous, comforting pop songs that carry with them the aura of being something truly special.” --POPMATTERS
"Tears for affairs" is the fourth song taken as a single from the highly praised third album by CAMERA OBSCURA. Along with the title track, the CD-single format includes one new, previously unreleased track: "The last song", as well as a brand new video of “Lloyd, I´m ready to be heartbroken”, directed by Victoria Bergsman (THE CONCRETES, TAKEN BY TREES) and filmed by Blair Young, the man behind most of the band’s videos; the clip features artwork by François Marry, French designer and musician living in England.
"Tears for affairs" is the fourth song taken as a single from the highly praised third album by CAMERA OBSCURA. As usual, the 7" is a limited edition vinyl release, and it features an exclusive, previously unreleased B-side: a cover version of ABBA “Super Trouper”.
Long awaited debut album from Sweden’s best new band. These ten songs sound somewhat like a modern version of A-ha dressed in black mixed with early The Jesus and Mary Chain in an arena. We love every little second of it. It took them two years and three labels to get here, but if that’s what they needed in order to produce what must be one of the finest Swedish debut album ever, it was worth all the wait. Everything about this album is just perfect. From the confident and obvious choice of simple calling it The Mary Onettes to the epic artwork. The classic ten songs format where each song has it’s obvious place on the album. First-rate songs all the way dressed in production perfectly balancing between futuristic and timeless. Biography Although development are crucial for a band one thing have remained the same, the songs. The band revolves around Philip Ekströms song writing and although some songs have been stripped down, rebuilt or even thrown away they have kept coming. Things started happen for The Mary Onettes in spring 2004, signing with a brand new label the future couldn’t look brighter. Six months later the band lost the deal without being given the chance to release anything. Eight months of despair followed until Sony/BMG decided to sign up the band up for an EP. The debut was released may 2005 and didn’t make big fuzz to the main crowd, although it got great reviews. A couple of months later the band found themselves without a recording contract once again. Instead of splitting up or getting depressed they started building a music studio and plans took form to start an own label and release everything themselves. A demo cd to Swedish indie label Labrador changed those plans. For the first time the band felt that they had a label that understood them and their music. Signing for a full length album in spring 2006 led to more frequent studio sessions and recording in their new built studio in Gothenburg, Sweden. Humans don’t believe in stagnation, it’s in our nature to develop, evolve and invent. The Mary Onettes started out in 2000 and when looked at in retrospect, many things have changed. Starting out as a passionate, yet naive rock band from a small town and therefore a lot to prove, the band have managed to stay together because of their love for music and each other. It takes time for a band to develop a sound and to create that special bond between members in a rock group. Six years on, that development is still in progress.

Green Ufos has the great pleasure of releasing La Vida, the new album by MUS, the Asturian duo consisting of singer Mónica Vacas and main composer Fran Gayo. MUS is a unique band, not only in Spain but in the rest of the world. No other band does what they do. It is something you notice as soon as you listen to the new album: all the songs evoke images of pure beauty where the usually opposing worlds of tradition and the avant-garde seem to meet. MUS are innovators in the creation of sounds and atmospheres and in the composition of songs and arrangements but they also look back to their past (or perhaps to an imaginary present) because one of their essential features is that they sing in Asturian, a Romantic language as old as Spanish that once was the dominant language of Asturias but is now in serious danger of disappearing.. These opposing aspects make MUS one of the most personal bands the independent Spanish scene has ever given birth to. Albums like El Naval or Divina Lluz were chosen by the specialised media as being among the best records of their respective years (2002 and 2004). Their music goes beyond Spain, and they have released their albums and singles on labels like Darla (USA), Pehr (USA), Pop Art (Greece), and Avant Garden (Taiwan). Furthermore, their unique sound has led to them being asked to play live in France, Russia, the USA and Taiwan. MUS is undoubtedly one of the very few Spanish bands that has played more abroad than in Spain, where they have only performed three concerts throughout their ten year career, twice in Asturias and once in Barcelona. However, the best was yet to come. Fai, El Naval or Divina Lluz can now be seen as part of the long road that has brought them to La Vida. After an amicable separation from their previous label, Acuarela, MUS decided to record the brightest and most vital album of their career and Green Ufos are proud to be part of it. After months of work, the result is an amazing album that is already a strong candidate to be one of the best records of 2007. MUS leave the darkness of their previous works behind and opt for gleaming hypnotic guitars, clear voices and lyrics that bring to mind the traditional poetry of Asturias - almost like some kind of blues. Many of the songs have strongly-marked rhythms, for instance the brightest, most immediate and most surprising song on the album, “Una sábana al vientu”, the beautiful, strange story of a boy who works in the building industry and sees on the horizon, from the scaffolding, his girlfriend’s half-open window. MUS saw La Vida as probably their last album. That is why they carefully and painstakingly prepared every detail of it. Fran wrote for months on an autoharp, an instrument, which deeply marks the whole album. Mónica has consciously worked on the vocals, achieving new heights both as a singer and a performer. The album features collaborations with such artists as: Pedro Vigil (Vigil, Edwin Moses), who, in addition to his work on guitar, has co-produced the album along with Fran, Manuel Molina, and Íker González (from Nacho Vegas’ band); Xabel Vegas and Josele García (both from Manta Ray); Paco Loco (in whose studio the album was mixed); Luigi Navarro; Ron González (vocals and the story behind “La Vida”); Sara Muñiz; and Pablo Errea (Edwin Moses, vocals on “Una sábana al vientu”). Recorded between February and November of 2006, La Vida contains twelve songs which rival each other in beauty. In fact, every one of them could easily be considered the best of the pack, and together they make up an unforgettable record. It is not that there are flashes of magic, there is magic itself in “Cantares de ciegu”, in “Perdieron la tierra”, in “Añada pal primer mes”, in “Animas del purgatoriu”, ... La Vida is a fabulous and amazing album where a band singing in Asturian has somehow made Neil Young and Spiritualized meet. Although journalists and fans are constantly looking to the other side of the ocean to discover, define, and document what is being called post-folk, from Devendra Banhart to Espers, from Vetiver to Charalambides, from Joanna Newsom to Silver Mt. Zion, MUS have re-written our own tradition here and now. 16 page booklet including lyrics in English, Spanish and Asturianu.
After reissuing the landmark 1979 live album by Melbourne’s ferocious synth-punk snarlers Primitive Calculators in late 2004, Chapter Music follows up with a crucial compilation of tracks by Primitive Calculators and their friends from the legendary Melbourne Little Band scene. Including the Calculators’ only studio recording, the single I Can’t Stop It b/w Do That Dance, plus the Little Bands compilation EP (both originally released in 1979 and now highly prized collectors items), plus numerous live and rehearsal recordings, the CD examines a particularly fertile and distinctive time in Melbourne music history, which has been discussed in hushed tones ever since. It takes in bands with names like Thrush And The Cunts and Too Fat To Fit Through The Door, and ranges from disaffected Fitzroy art-punk to Sudanese tribal chanting recorded in London. With liner notes culled from a revealing interview with Prim Calcs members Dave Light, Denise Hilton and Frank Lovece, plus rare photos and song lyrics, Primitive Caluclators And Friends is a revelatory companion piece to their live album, which received a rave review from Maximum Rock’n’Roll and a 10 out of 10 Album of the Month feature in Australian Vice Magazine, amongst other stellar clippings on its reissue two years ago. TRACKLISTING 1. I Can’t Stop It 2. Do That Dance 3. Signals 4. Beat Goes On 5. Mud In My Eye 6. Shout 7. Do That Dance (Unplugged) 8. Available via Darla mail order only until the official street date 5/8/2007. Darla is proud to release the debut record by Danish nu-gaze group Rumskib. Rumskib is the Odense, Denmark duo of Keith Canisius (Guitarist, Vocalist, Composer, Producer) and Tine Louise Kortermand (Singer). Keith produced the debut record with Jonas Munk (Manual), who programmed the beats, made the electronic sounds, and played synthesizer. Rumskib's debut record begins with a Simple Minds New Gold Dream style intro. A rough & repetitive MBV Loveless style guitar line kicks in. Next an aggressive baggy beat begins to pump making Rumskib sound nearly like Curve. Then a very lovely surprise: A very pretty, Lush style guitar change comes and simultaneously the wall of sound vocal harmonies begin -- like Emma, Miki... and Bjork! There's no denying Rumskib are derivative, however, Rumskib has such command of all the genre's key sound elements and their own pop songs are so damn good the band gloriously claim the new shoegaze sound as their own. Rumskib's sound is at once modern and classic, blending a strong love for early 90s shoegazer bands such as Chapterhouse and Lush with the sensibilities of grand Scandinavian 80s pop such as A-Ha and Roxette, all flavored with harsh noise-rock guitars and crunchy micro-programmed beats. Sometimes their sound is up-tempo, almost danceable like The Cardigans meet St. Etienne. At other times their sound is thick, heavy, and romantic recalling The Cocteau Twins or Simple Minds. Rumskib manage to be both surrealist and accessible; complex but straight forward. Vocalist Tine Louise creates harmonies so beautiful one would think they came from some mysterious wonderland (or Victorialand?) and Keith Canisius' lyrical call & response guitar playing is intelligent and evocative. Combine all this with well crafted compositions and Jonas Munk's trademark head-spinning, multi-layered sound sculptures, and you've got a work of undeniable beauty. Track list: 01. Hearts On fire, 02. Springtime, 03. Dreampoppers Tribute, 04. Where Are The Flowers, 05. Ferris Wheel Blackout, 06. Think Eyes Away, 07. You're My Japan, 08. Sneak, 09. Crucial Love Games, 10. Ovation Outsiders, 11. Girl Afraid, 12. Love At First Sight. "This is great stuff indeed. Her voice sounds amazing and it´s such good melodies" --ULRICH SCHNAUSS ""Re-evokes my dancing feet with the fragrance of Liz Fraser insanity there on top.. humm..There' s some serious celebration going on in Scandinavia now." --SERENA MANEESH ""Springtime" kills, kills again, and then kills some more. And then bathes in in the blood of its own awesomeness." --JATUN
NTSC Region 0 DVD. Multi-region format. LTM is proud to announce a new live DVD Communicants from cult post-punk group Section 25, previously with Factory Records, whose brand new studio album Part-Primitive is released in May 2007. Formed by Blackpool brothers Larry and Vin Cassidy in 1978, Section 25 gigged extensively with Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, Durutti Column, New Order and the original Factory stable, completed two North American tours, and recorded keynote albums Always Now (1981) and From The Hip (1984). Their sublime proto-techno single Looking From A Hilltop remains an oft-sampled club classic. Although Section 25 disbanded in 1986, core members Larry (bass/vocals), Vin (drums) and Jenny Cassidy (keyboards/vocals) regrouped in 2001, joined by guitarist Ian Butterworth (ex Tunnelvision) and multi-instrumentalist and engineer Roger Wikeley. Although work on the new album was set back by the untimely death of Jenny Cassidy in November 2004, the group began gigging again in May 2006 across Europe. Communicants offers a professional multi-camera shoot of their triumphant homecoming show at Blackpool Empress Ballroom in October 2006 (as guests of New Order), as well as bonus performances from Brussels, Dublin, Athens, Paris, London and Poulton. The 70 minute DVD also features interview material with Larry and Vin, and footage shot on the road. "64" is the fourth album by Spanish band Souvenir and it has already been described as their most adventurous yet. Nevertheless, their new record is coherent with their approach to music throughout their career. Again, Patricia de la Fuente and Jaime Cristóbal show their skill for adapting a variety of influences and creating something brilliant. This time, their surprising new stylistic twist has taken them straight onto the dancefloor. "64" is basically a dance music album. "64" integrates elements from the past 30 years of electronic and dance music (techno-pop, new wave, 80's dance music) and combines them with the band's very personal language. The result is a collection of dance hits packed with memorable melodies which are brilliantly guided by Patricia's beautiful vocals and Jaime's surf guitars. As usual, the record's basic premise is interspersed with eclectic elements from various sources. Souvenir are anything but purists, therefore their vision of dance music is an unorthodox one. For instance, it seems ironic that their most techno-pop record features so much guitar playing, ranging from crunchy rock to surf. The result of this combination (synths and drumboxes with 60's guitars) is an exciting and original collection of songs, and Souvenir's most passionate record so far, with echoes of the sound of classic synthesizer such as the Prophet 5, Moog, Korg Poly-Six. "64" is also Souvenir's return to pop, as it features their most catchy, immediate tunes in years, in the tradition of The Human League, Blondie, Etienne Daho, Visage, Pet Shop Boys or Mylène Farmer, but also with a more contemporary resonance that links the band to artists like Ladytron, The Raveonettes, Vive la Fête, or Saint Etienne. The aesthetics of the band and the record have changed accordingly, as can be appreciated in the stunning cover design of "64", created by the artist Iker Spozio. The record was made at the Iñaki de Lucas studio in San Sebastian, and features the contribution from Xavier Alarcón, who was in charge of the mastering. Thanks to them "64" sounds stronger than any other previous Souvenir record: a fat, yet crisp sound that will make you dance throughout the 43 minutes of this record. Steven Brown is a core member of cult avant garde band Tuxedomoon. As a solo artist he has recorded some ten solo albums, including Music For Solo Piano (1983), Searching For Contact (1987), Half Out (1991), Nine Rain (1996) and Decade (2003). Brown Plays Tenco was recorded in Italy in 1987 and features Steven’s own interpretations of five songs written by cult artist Luigi Tenco. Born in Cassine in 1938, Tenco scored many hits as a singer in Italy during the 1960s, but shot himself through the head at the San Remo Festival in 1967 after Ciao amore ciao (Hello, Love, Hello), failed to reach the final. The suicide note explained that his suicide was a gesture of protest against the jury’s taste in music. Never available on CD before, Brown Plays Tenco has now been digitally remastered with twelve bonus tracks recorded live in Italy in 1988. These include in-concert renditions of songs by Luigi Tenco as well as solo material by both Brown (Besides All That, rwf) and Tuxedomoon (What Use?, Egypt , Lowlands Tone Poem). Artist Resume: Steven Brown was born in Chicago in 1952, and currently resides in Mexico City. Tuxedomoon formed in San Francisco in 1977 around the nucleus of Steven Brown, Blaine Reininger and Peter Principle. Following a string of releases on the Residents’ Ralph label, the band relocated to Europe in 1981. Their dozen-odd group albums include the classics Half Mute, Desire, Suite En Sous-Sol, Ghost Sonata and Holy Wars. The latest TM album Bardo Hotel was released in 2006. Also available by Steven Brown on LTM: Decade (Best of 1982-92) (LTMCD 2344), Music for Solo Piano (LTMCD 2357), Searching for Contact (LTMCD 2362), Half Out (LTMCD 2412).
SUBMERGED teams up with Grammy award winning producer BILL LASWELL, avant-garde Japanese trumpeter TOSHINORI KONDO and drummer GUY LICATA a second time to give us the follow up to last years Method of Defiance "The Only Way To Go Is Down" album and his first solo titled album SUBMERGED "STARS LIGHTS THE END". Once again we find bass arrangements of infinite complexity by Bill Laswell mashing with Kondo's horns while distorted guitars and abrasive synths battle against one another all the while producing a perfect fusion between instrumental and software generated music. "Guy Licata, is a monster, he has got the skills to compete with any software geek in beat mangling, reaching easily two hundred BPMs." - Igloo Magazine. Submerged "Stars Lights The End" keeps Method of Defiance's hard edged drum n bass blasts, experimental dub and jazz elements only this time leans slightly toward a more aggresive sound than "The Only Way to Go Is Down". Stars Lights The End features bruising sound edits and beat contributions from Corrupt Souls, D`nee and Mark Filip. Expect extreme high quality sound again courtesy of Michael Fossenkemper who also mastered Method Of Defiance's "The Only Way To Go is Down".

Overview: Unrecognizable Now is the duo of Marcus Fischer and Matthew Jones, two young men from North Portland who blend organic instruments and field recordings into an evolving collage of melodies and rhythms with their laptops. You may have seen or heard Marcus's work before: He has designed album covers for various bands on K Records out of Olympia, Washington; has handled live projections for Hovercraft (remember Eddie Vedder's ex-wife?); and has styled Adidas products for the past few years. You also may have seen him drumming in the Sleater Kinney side-project named Tommy, or one of many other Olympia bands. Unrecnow's live shows have hypnotized Portland residents with projected film paintings, layers of real-time xylophone, drums, guitar sinews, sine waves and glitches. Now you can enjoy this experience in your home. Enhanced CD also contains an ice-themed video directed by Rob Tyler. If you read Wire magazine, enjoy going to Cologne, or if you are a fan of music straddling post and electronic worlds, you will love in a cave or a coma.
The second instalment of Chapter’s Australian acclaimed post- punk compilation series Can’t Stop It! comes 5 years after the first, but makes up for the long interval by presenting another incredible array of inventive and often previously unheard music from the period 1979-84. This is a fantastically inventive and dynamic time in Australian music history, a time when Australia stepped out of the shadow of overseas influence and asserted its own musical identity for the first time. Can’t Stop It! #2 features tracks by bands such as Severed Heads, The Systematics and Scattered Order, and early work by the likes of Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard, Hunters & Collectors Mark Seymour, and soundtrack composer Paul Charlier.
