“las Vegas” Soundtrack Out On Treadstone Records September 27, 2005
.
Quote:
Album Inspired by Hit NBC TV Show Is What You Play When You Play Vegas-Style, With Tracks From Elvis Presley/Junkie XL, Wayne Newton/Legion of Doom, Tom Jones / Stereophonics, Plus Fatboy Slim, Cowboy Troy With Big & Rich, Pussycat Dolls, Michael Bublé, BodyRockers, and More--The Las Vegas Soundtrack, the first CD companion to the hit NBC show “Las Vegas” – heading into its third season – will be released by Treadstone Records (in conjunction with Image Entertainment) Sept. 27, 2005. The disc features artists spotlighted on the series, which has been celebrated as a showcase for hot, high-energy music from both Vegas stalwarts and cutting-edge contemporary acts. It may be true that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but with the Las Vegas Soundtrack, you don’t have to stay at the Montecito (the fictional epicenter of “Las Vegas”) or anywhere else on The Strip to feel the heat and beat of Sin City.
Helping transport you there are Elvis Presley’s “A Little Less Conversation” – the show’s U.S. theme song – paired with the Junkie XL remix; the Wayne Newton vs. The Legion of Doom remix of Newton doing “Suspicious Minds” (created especially for the Las Vegas Soundtrack; Newton performed a more traditional version of the classic on season one of “Las Vegas”); Tom Jones with Stereophonics on “Mama Told Me (Not to Come),” a #4 U.K. hit that was heard on season two; Kool & the Gang featuring Sean Paul and Jamaican reggae star Spanner Banner on “Ladies Night” (the original was heard on season two, with this incarnation slated for season three); a burst of down-home flavor from hick-hopper Cowboy Troy featuring Big & Rich called “I Play Chicken With the Train,” which was also the first single from Cowboy Troy’s #2 Country debut album (Troy and Big & Rich will perform the song on the upcoming season premiere); and D-Nat and ONDA featuring De La Soul on the Isley Brothers reconfiguration “It’s a New Thing (It’s Your Thing).”
Rounding out the set are cuts from Fatboy Slim (“Wonderful Night”); British/Australian dance duo BodyRockers (the chart-topper “I Like the Way”); the L.A.-bred Pussycat Dolls (an exclusive version of “We Went as Far as We Felt Like Going”), who appeared on the show during season two, will appear on season three, and in April celebrated the grand opening of the Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Caesars Palace; up-and-coming British R&B chanteuse and soon-to-be “Las Vegas” guest Vanessa Brown (the U.S. debut of “Whipped”); Toronto’s trip-hop revolutionary Esthero (“Wikked Lil’ Grrrls”); and Las Vegas” composer Charlie Clouser (“Let It Ride,” a remix of the show’s international theme song, making its Stateside debut), along with the rare Passengerz European Mixshow remix of Michael Bublé’s “Sway” (the original version of which was performed by Bublé on season one). The tracks noted here that have not yet been heard on “Las Vegas” are slated for forthcoming episodes.
Says Treadstone Records president Jonathan Platt of this Vegas-to-go package: “The Las Vegas Soundtrack is a non-stop party – just like Vegas. We’re extremely pleased to be working with NBC and the producers of ‘Las Vegas’ to bring the soundtrack to the show’s fans and anyone who wants to inject a little bit of The Strip into their lives. It’s great when you can hear Vegas icons like Elvis and Wayne Newton and Tom Jones on the same record with Fatboy Slim and Pussycat Dolls and BodyRockers. It’s the acts that created Vegas-style entertainment at The Riviera and The Sands joining forces with the new generation playing gigs at The Joint – which perfectly expresses the spirit of ‘Las Vegas.’”
Adds Treadstone principal Jonathan Scott Miller: “Needless to say, you don’t generally see Wayne Newton and [L.A. mash-up collective] The Legion of Doom mentioned in the same sentence, let alone on the same track, but we think that combo is pretty cool, and it’s a good gauge of the overall vibe of this record. Jon [Platt] and I have really enjoyed being associated with ‘Las Vegas’ and working with the show’s music supervisor, Jennifer Pyken, to bring all these songs together.”
“This CD is fast and fun, just like our show,” notes “Las Vegas” creator and executive producer Gary Scott Thompson. “It was fantastic working with these artists on the show to help convey the glitz and glamour that is Las Vegas, especially since the music industry has played, and still does play, a major role in the city. The combination of the artists’ work on one CD truly captures the feeling of the show and the city itself.”
Jonnie Forster, Senior Partner, Kryptonite Marketing (responsible for the marketing of the Las Vegas Soundtrack ) adds: “The challenge is to deliver a campaign that is worthy of the LAS VEGAS brand itself. The bar is already set at it’s zenith. The good news is when you partner with NBC, you have the leverage to pull off major media promotions and marketing stunts to create unparalleled excitement and buzz. Without giving anything away, stay tuned for some fun.”
