Singles Triple Trouble intrigued me when it came across my desk. An adults only game that I can’t buy in the United States. Infamous sex scenes that are too taboo to be sold on an American store shelves. I finally get to play a dating/relationship/sex game that doesn’t have to be translated or bought off eBay. Yay for me.

In all seriousness, the recent trend of games being pulled or not even put on store shelves is nothing new in this country. Can I just say “hot coffee?” The first version of the Singles franchise, Singles: Flirt Up Your Life never made it to the store shelves due to its Adult Only rating. This led it to be a limited title from a few online retailers. Singles Triple Trouble is following that same path, except now it is only available from UK retailers. Still available, but obviously not something you can run down to your big box chain store to buy.

So what is Singles Triple Trouble about? Well, three singles living in an apartment together, of course. The game has two modes: story or free play. In the story mode you play as a jilted lover who is trying to get back your ex-partner who just happens to also be one of your roommates. Through fifteen separate quests, you have to win their love and friendship back. In the free play mode you begin with an apartment at the sandbox level and develop relationships between your three roommates. Gameplay time for the story mode is roughly five to ten hours with the free play mode being unlimited.

The rest of the game runs on a Sims based interface with an X-rated twist. There are three main characters (the player, his/her ex and their fellow tenant), two secondary characters and a few minor characters. There are two main locations, your apartment and the local bar. Your needs levels include: hunger, comfort, hygiene, energy, fun, room, friendship, romance, and eroticism. Needs max out at a level 4 and with each level you get more options. Hence, don’t think that you are going to get to fool around with one of your roomies at a level one eroticism.

The graphics are impressive but sometimes annoying. Depending on how you scroll your view, your characters will not always be doing exactly what they were supposed to be doing. For example, my two sims were supposed to be kissing on the couch. Based on the angle that I was looking at them from, they were both kissing the air. Funny at first, but this can prove to be annoying in the long run. Music in the game is typical sim style music. You do have the option from playing from your own mp3 list but you cannot customize play lists.

Okay, let’s go over what makes this game what I refer to as a “naughty” sim game. You have full frontal nudity for both male and female players. You have see through showers, baths, and whirlpools. Your players can pleasure each other as well as themselves. You can have both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. Need I say more.

I personally like drama filled, relationship games so I liked playing Singles Triple Trouble. But this was definitely more a male themed game. For example, having my characters finally make it to the bedroom after ten hours to find that only the female can pleasure the man, not the other way around; well that was definitely a letdown and a little bit of insult. Also, I kind of felt that after you got your characters into bed with each other there was nothing really left to do in the game. The suspense level was gone. (and was completely blocked by the covers)

With all this being said, would I recommend you importing Singles Triple Trouble. Well, if you have a thing for AO titles that you can’t find in the United States, then yes. If you’re looking for something that will give you hours and hours of gameplay, then no, this isn’t the game for you. It is important to note that there are a lot of unauthorized mods floating around the web as well if you wanted to extend the life of the game. Overall, Singles Triple Trouble is an amusing game for a weekend play but not something I would play long-term or display in my game library. (eek, what would my friends think of me)
