The Hip-Hop culture and punk culture are so similar that fans of one genre typically are fans of the other. With the Legion of Doom fully understanding the cultural similarities between these two styles of music, they are able to create a mash-up masterpiece. By taking some of the hottest groups in punk/emo and having them “face off” over the course fourteen tracks, the Legion of Doom has crafted a very hard-hitting, interlocking, collage of music. The Legion uses tracks with similar tones and themes to bridge the artists within the songs. This album is just as much about mashing-up different punk/emo artists as it is about mashing up Hip-Hop and punk. Beyond The Legion breaking these songs down in a fashion similar to that of resident Likin Park DJ Mr. Hahn from Linkin Park, they include some of the best MCs in the business (Krs-One, Planet Asia, Triune) to display how truly universal this art form is. In the true spirit of the Hip-Hop and punk artists on this project, the Legion may, unfortunately due to legal issues, may have to rely on a very grass roots approach to getting this album out to the masses. At this time, it appears that the album that was leaked sparely is now only available, through one form or another, through their website. Despite the difficulty to get a copy of this album, it is definitely worth all of the effort.
